Outreach in the College of Education
In the spirit of fulfilling Michigan State University’s land-grant mission, the College of Education makes serving the needs of schools and communities a top priority. Faculty members work in partnership with teachers, school districts, peer institutions and policymakers to strengthen the connections between theory and practice and actually implement change where it matters.
This commitment to service includes providing educators with opportunities for continuous professional development. It also means sharing research-based knowledge with leaders at all levels.
The MSU College of Education is particularly engaged in efforts to promote international perspectives in education and to improve teaching and learning within urban communities.
Policymakers often seek the expertise of Michigan State University faculty members to influence critical education reforms across the state and nation. The Education Policy Center connects resources and makes key research findings accessible.
The College of Education works to create better educational opportunities for all people, especially those living in the most under-resourced areas of our nation. The faculty recognizes a special imperative to support and address the challenges facing schools in urban settings.
The College of Education, through its Alumni Association, engages with alumni by providing online networking opportunities, publications, special events, an awards program and more.
The faculty works with educators, schools and districts to improve student outcomes through a variety of research and professional development projects. The Office of K-12 Outreach is a catalyst for many of these efforts.
The College of Education is committed to preparing educators who embrace learning from diverse perspectives, and to engaging with domestic and international partners in ways that promote understanding about educational issues, policies and practices around the world.
