MSU Disciplinary Majors for Elementary Teacher Certification
Students who were freshmen in Fall 2010 or later must choose an integrated elementary teaching major in one of four core subject areas. Disciplinary majors can be added to the required major but they are considered extra and optional. This curricular change is based on changes mandated by the Michigan Department of Education. Students can apply to add optional disciplinary majors on the Reply Form they submit after being admitted to the Teacher Preparation Program. To become certified in the disciplinary major subject, students must complete all required coursework and pass the corresponding MTTC.
